In the heart of the Lucca Hills, the Villa Sardini Winery has managed to elevate not only the art of winemaking but also the value of social inclusion through the “Scipione Project – Autism over 18”. This project not only opened the door to an inclusive work experience for young adults with autism, but also emphasized a respectful and integrated approach with the environment, through the adoption of organic farming practices in the production of its wines.
The bond between man and nature is celebrated and strengthened in every bottle produced by the winery. Organic farming not only ensures the sustainability of the territory, but also promotes a healthier and more productive environment for all those involved in wine production. This approach reflects a vision where caring for the land and caring for people are interconnected, highlighting how sustainable practices can enrich both the environment and the community.
A path that stems from the first productions that echo, and trace the history of Villa Sardini and its protagonists. The first wines are in fact evocative “Villa Sardini”, “Ludovico Sardini” and “Lippo”.
After the success of these wines, the union between the wine and the Scipione Project takes shape symbolically with the “Vento dell’Ovest”, a pure Cabernet Franc. The name of this wine is a tribute to “The Ode to the West Wind” by Percy Bysshe Shelley, who spent time right on these hills. The Ode, with its powerful image of the wind that brings renewal and hope, is metaphorically linked to the project and the lives of the children and their families. Like the wind that announces the arrival of spring after winter, so this wine symbolizes hope for families, sweeping away doubts and uncertainties and painting a future of possibilities.
“……. O wind, if winter is coming, can spring be far away?”
In the wake of this vision, “Orizzonte Rosa” was born, a rosé produced from Syrah grapes. The name evokes the pinkish light that colors the horizon of Villa Sardini at sunset, a symbol of a bright future for the young people of the project. This wine, with its fresh and lively character, celebrates the beauty and continuity of life.
In the same year another wine was born, much appreciated: “Le Galline!”, a Ciliegiolo that continues the combination of wine and inclusion. The name and label recall the hens who, free to scratch among the olive trees, mark the days of the children and contribute to their well-being by working the garden in permaculture, infusing tranquility and natural rhythm to their day.
This is followed by “Stellina”: a Merlot dedicated to rabbits who, together with hens, roam the meadows and olive groves of the winery. The label of this wine celebrates these animals, symbols of serenity and an integral part of the project’s daily life, reflecting the winery’s commitment to creating an inclusive and harmonious environment.
The Villa Sardini Winery, through these unique wines and the Scipione Project, not only produces oenological excellence, but also provides a vital model of inclusion and social support, demonstrating how viticulture can be a powerful vehicle for positive change and integration.
In addition to the daily work, the winery organizes a series of collateral activities that enrich the experience of the participants.
These days are dedicated to sports, music, cooking and other forms of recreational agriculture.
The goal is to create a virtuous cycle of connection, well-being and inclusion, promoting the social and personal integration of the young people involved.

Not only that, he has found an extraordinary balance between the cultivation of organic grapes and social inclusion, creating a work environment that values each individual. The importance of these practices is highlighted by the birth of “L’ Impegno “, a pure Sangiovese, dedicated to Daniele.
“L’Impegno” symbolizes the recognition of his significant contribution to all phases of work in the vineyard, from pruning to harvesting to winemaking and in general the commitment of all the workers of the winery. This wine not only represents oenological excellence, but is also a witness to the passion and hard work that characterize the staff at Villa Sardini. Daniele’s dedication, from the care of the vines to the winemaking process, reflects the work ethic and attention to detail that are central to the winery’s values.
In conclusion, the “Scipione Project” and “L’ Impegno” demonstrate Villa Sardini’s dedication not only to producing high-quality wines, but also to being pioneers in a holistic approach that embraces both environmental sustainability and social inclusion.
A headlight of innovation and humanity, in which wine is much more than a drink: it is a symbol of community, care and mutual respect.
